Beliefs Defined
The Bible is the Inspired Word of God. The Old and New Testament are verbally inspired by God, the only written revelation from God to man. The Bible is infallible and the authoritative rule of faith and conduct for mankind 2 Timothy 3:15-17 There is one true God God is called by many different names because of the different dimensions of His personality, but God is one . God is super-dimensional and eternally self-existent . God is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. He is the creator of the heavens and the earth . While God is one, He has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit . Deuteronomy 6:4
Jesus Christ is the Son of God Jesus Christ is the second person of the triune Godhead, the eternal Son of God. The Scripture declares his virgin birth ; His sinless life ; His miracles; His death on the cross ; His bodily resurrection from the dead; His exaltation to the right hand of God. Hebrews 7:26
The Fall of Man Man was created in the image of God . However, by a voluntary act of choice, Adam and Eve disobeyed God. That first sin had several repercussions. Man was excommunicated from the garden of Eden , a curse was pronounced , the process of physical death began , and man died spiritually . Sin separated humankind from God and left man in a fallen or sinful condition . Genesis 1:26
The Salvation of Man The only means of salvation is Jesus Christ. He died on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins. Our sins are forgiven and forgotten. The redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer. “That if you confess out of your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Acts 4:12
The Evidence of Salvation The evidence of salvation is two-fold. The inward evidence is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness, true holiness, good fruit, and love. Romans 8:16
The Ordinances of the Church Baptism in Water - Scripture teaches that all who repent and believe in Christ are to be baptized by immersion in water, which is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is a declaration to the world that we have died to sin and have been raised with Christ to walk in newness of life.
Communion - The Lord's Supper consists of two elements: the bread and cup. These elements are symbolic of the body and blood of Christ. Communion is a memorial of Christ's sufferings on the cross and a celebration of our salvation. It is an opportunity for a believer to examine himself and experience forgiveness.
The Church and Its Mission The Church is the body of Christ and has a three-fold purpose: To evangelize the world, to worship God , and to equip those for ministry . 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
The Holy Spirit Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Which is the evidence of speaking with other tongues, is given to believers who ask for it. That after receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is now enabled and empowered to live a holy life. Luke 11:13
The nine gifts of the Spirit are different manifestations of the Spirit to build up the body. We are instructed to diligently seek the gifts , but they must be exercised in an orderly way. The nine fruits of the Spirit are the result of a Spirit-filled life and evidence of spiritual maturity. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11
The Final Judgement
There will be a final judgment in which the dead will be resurrected and judged according to their works . Everyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life, along with the devil and his angels (demons), will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire . Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be resurrected and stand at the judgment seat of Christ to be rewarded for their good deeds. Matt. 25:31-46 |
